Pretty boring story, rose is insufferable, and the audio narrator drove me crazy. Esme is insufferable.

This book made me feel like I was in a different time. I enjoyed it. The mystery. The history. It was an intriguing tale that connected the present with the past. Same emotions and similar issues just different decades.

Great book! Interesting characters and great plot. It was a quick read with a great mystery. Highly recommend.

I got this book free from FirstToRead.com

This isn't the type of book I would typically go for and it definitely had some frustrations. The main character is meant to be great at her job and very smart but makes horrible choices and clearly violates the ethics of her professional. Were she a different person I likely would've loved the book but instead it's just fine. I enjoyed the stories from the past though would've liked more focus on the rest of their world - it seemed we mostly only heard about the romances and romance failures even though they clearly weren't the point.

this could have been so good! interesting subject matter rendered flat and uninteresting with dull characters. what a bummer.

Mixed feelings about this one. I liked the flipping back and forth between present and past and connecting the two stories. It was interesting to hear about the Barbizon Hotel for Women, and I kind of miss those types of things in a way (but I am sure I am romanticizing things). I liked the mystery element to the story - though a bit far fetched in a way.

Things I didn't care for (just my personal preferences) - language - I could have done without some of it and it wasn't chock full, but just little bursts - and a few racy scenes. I think I would have liked the book a bit better minus those two things, but others out there probably don't share my tastes.

Quick easy read. I enjoyed both storylines and appreciated how they tied to great the end
