maybe 2.5 * .this was seriesof to be better than the address, but I think I liked the address more than this one, but maybe the narrator ruined this one for me.

4.5

Audiobook

I enjoy visiting the past through Fiona's writing, how she makes landmarks come alive. Pretty light fare even considering the historical context, and Rose is juuuust enough of a character just to push the story ahead. I kinda wish we just stayed in the past and didn't have all the drama of the present day story.

This is even better than The Address.

Eh! I am getting really sick of these historical fiction books that have a past and a present storyline running simultaneously. The genre has become too formulaic IMHO!

Just a wonderfully well done novel!

3.5 stars. An enjoyable, light read.

3.5 stars- this was a refreshing palate cleanser from the dark thrillers i normally read. This is definitely a character driven book and i would have enjoyed a little more story telling. The 1950s chapters were wonderful and captivating - well done historical fiction. The current timeline wasn’t as interesting which kept me from really loving this. Since this was a debut novel, I definitely will be reading more from this author

This is my second book by Fiona Davis, the first being "Magnolia Palace". I enjoyed the romance aspect of this book. Fiona has a way of snagging her reader and keeping them hooked throughout the book. I loved the theme of this book, and look forward to reading again.
