2 stars for the “twist”, minus 1 star for the following comment in the book out of spite:
"The woman bore her bitterness like a badge; the kind of person who writes one-star book reviews."

Reading this book felt like a chore. The main couple was whiny and insufferable. Everyone was a lying POS except for Bob the Dog. The buildup was extremely slow and boring; nothing happened until about 60-70% in. I didn’t feel the tension that was supposed to be there. Much of the story didn’t make sense and was laughably stupid at times. I mean, the couple played rock, paper, scissors multiple times to decide whether to get divorced, despite knowing their relationship’s been awful for years.

I didn’t expect this to be “life-changing” or anything like that. I was hoping for something quick and entertaining, neither of which I felt about this book.

Audiobook note: The narrator for Adam’s chapters did a good job, even for the female speaking parts. I didn’t care for the Amelia narrator’s delivery.

This book was fast paced and kept me reading. Each chapter was a little bit of a cliffhanger, and it was interesting to read the story from multiple perspectives.

“Life is like a game where pawns can become queens, but not everyone knows how to play.”

I’m officially an Alice Feeney fan! I was obsessed when His and Hers came out, and I have to say I love this one too!

Feeney, has an amazing way of making me think I have everything figured out and then pulling a twist I didn’t see coming.

From the alternating POVs to the past and present timelines, this book kept me engaged the whole time I was reading and I finished it in one airplane sitting!

If you like unreliable narrators, twists that take you by surprise and something you won’t be able to put down once you start? I’d definitely recommend this read!

Starting right off at Scotland in the car you get to know what the characters are like from that little scene. I can not say a little overview without giving away the whole story so bear with me. This book had me on edge constantly I love the untrusting story. The character I loved the most turned out to be the absolute worse. One thing I did not like was that the twist felt a bit rushed in my opinion it could have taken a few more pages to play out. This book is perfect for people entering the thriller genre you still had a lot of heartfelt scenes while still having creepy vibes.
