This book was wayyyy better than I was expecting it to be!

I would say it's medium to fast paced with a few places where it dragged, but overall it was a really, really good thriller. Kept me interested and tense for basically the entire book. The characters were well written and easy to get invested in.

Highly recommend reading this if you're looking for a good sci-fi thriller.

8/10, will definitely read the sequel.

Scott rewrote this in order to tie it into his universe in which all of his books coincide. It is hard to review a book where you already know the characters and the outcome, but as each scene unfolds you find yourself looking around and smiling knowing that this isn't a Hollywood remake of your favorite movie where the new director is going to screw everything up. Necessarily done in order to start the sequel where I imagine there is going to be a long list of the dead.

I am sure I am biased toward any of Scott Sigler’s books, but I just love his characters. Except for the ones I hate, and there are a few of those. Most of the characters are just real. They do what I think I would do, they feel how I would feel. They are put in surreal circumstances and do their best to survive, and a lot of them don’t. Everybody is fair game in a Scott Sigler novel, so try not to get too attached.

I'm not usually a fan of sci-horror, but this was a pretty good story.

Awesome book, very lovecraftian. Reminded me a lot of "At the Mountains of Madness."

Reads like a Michael Bay movie, complete with over-the-top characters & cartoonish villains.
