L'âme d'une pieuvre by Sy Montgomery

slow-paced

More of an autobiography featuring octopuses than about their consciousness. A little was new to me, a lot was repetitive and overwrought. Just not a writing style that works for me. If you cut out the endless metaphors and similes this would have made one long essay.

I loved hearing about Sy's personal experience with octopuses. You can tell how much she loves animals from this book. And not only were you invested in the individual octopuses she talks about, but also her friends she made while researching for this book. This is my second book I've read from her and I can't wait to read more.
