A good second installment to the Emma Djan series. This book wasn’t as gripping for me as the first, but still enjoyable as a solid African noir thriller. I will definitely read the third!
Lady Araba, one of the top ladies in Ghanaian fashion, is found murdered in her home the morning of one of her biggest shows. When the police botch the investigation, hinting at high levels of corruption, the case is brought to Emma Djan, a local private investigator. With numerous suspects & various motives, Emma and her team doggedly pursue all leads to find the killer.
The story goes back and forth in time, which I liked. The beginning pulled me in right away with its fast pace and quickly changing settings. The middle dragged somewhat, making the end felt a little too sudden to me. However, as mentioned above, it still a solid read!
