lolita has the honor of being my first 1-star book in more than half a decade. was quite looking forward to this and while the premise's fcked up, it's also fascinating and i was interested to see how the author would execute it. while h.h. could be a complex character and the first part was quite good, the second just dissolved into endless roadtrips with shady motel stays, names and details of ppl and places i couldnt care less abt and added nothing to the story; it was 350 pgs of a white dude's earlier life and ramblings of nothing. there was so much potential and it was just all squandered into this rambling, nonsensical pulp. also did this edition's cover artist even read the damn book?
