I listened to the audio book and enjoyed hearing the story narrated by Prince Harry himself. He's certainly lived a life of wild privilege and adventure, so it was interesting to hear his stories and imagine the crazy life he's led, simply by nature of being born into that family. I particularly enjoyed the stories about his time in Africa, out in "the real world" and his ability to appreciate those moments away from the glare of his bizarre royal world. I think some of his stories were an attempt to come off as "a regular guy" which of course he's not and couldn't be if he tried (no fault of his), so some fell a bit flat for me, but overall I enjoyed listening to his narration.

This book was so sludgy for me. And I am very fascinated by the royal family and have been invested in most content Harry and Meghan have produced so far. I would be a very easy person to sell to your side in this book, and Harry just couldn’t hack it. I think the bigger blame lay with the editor— so many stories were dumb and the problems he had just felt repetitive throughout. There definitely should have been better editing and direction submitted to Harry. He has a fascinating life and crazy experiences, so how did this boring book come from all that…?
In the end, just ok. There were many plot points that were quite compelling but I do find myself thinking some are exaggerated. And at certain points it does drag on. Though that could be because it's a audio book which Harry himself read and he speaks slowly. Also in reality while there clearly were bad & traumatic things that happened in his life he's a very privileged person so some of it read "woe is me"
I listened to Prince Harry reading this and it made all the difference...I don't know if it would've had the same effect if I had just read it. That being said, I loved hearing him tell his own story through his own words. I have never gotten into the (toxic) British monarchy and I have never understood the media hysteria around them, but this side of the story made me angry and empathetic toward the way Harry and Meghan were treated. The idea that, because they received public money, their lives were free range to dangerously intrusive press and public scrutiny was jarring to me. I am hopeful for the future of Meghan and Harry and their new family.
