It’s cute but it’s pretty mid.
I think 12-14 year olds would really like this. I just feel I’m not the age group for this series. But it is really cute and I will read the second volume.

A fast paced scifi based on the Midas myth - everything King Midas touches turns to gold; including the air and any bacteria that’d try to decompose his flesh. Our ‘heroes’ go in search of the weapon on a planet turned to solid gold and find King Midas. It turns into an interstellar conflict over his finger.

I really liked this first book and I’m glad I have book 2 (the final one) to begin right away! I like our characters and I want to know more about them. I liked the look into how King Midas became who he is. The art style is great and clear. Overall a great scifi series starter.

At first glance, The Midas Flesh looked to be another ably written, ably drawn and colored, fun, adventure comic for kids. And, if the gorgeous artwork were all there was to the story, it might be true. However, the addition of interesting characters who experience real and significant consequences to their actions elevate this book far beyond its cutesy art and bright colors.

Take the legend of King Midas, throw in a random act by a capricious god, an evil Federation, politically motivated astronaut terrorists, and a talking dinosaur, and you have a really good comic for fans of all ages. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful trade! A fun space adventure with a really diverse and interesting space crew.

I really liked the concept here, but I'm not sure the storyline was interesting enough to get me to buy the next volume, so 3/5.

Hello, it’s your old friend “do the ends justify the means” living in a wacky space setting.

King Midas felt a little hammy here for lack of better words. He's a plot point meant to progress the story. Joey, Fatima, and Cooper all have their reasons for opposing the federation, but Joey's the only one willing to get gutter over it.

None of the characters stood out to me, but this seems more plot-driven anyway.

Ultimately this wasn’t keeping my interest. If I didn’t already have volume 2, I probably wouldn’t continue it.

Liked but did not love this. Silly premise. Read in ~45 minutes. DOES NOT CONCLUDE.

More like a 3.5.

Dinosaurs
Astronaut Dinosaurs
Muslim hijabi woman of color astronaut with the previously mentioned dinosaur astronaut.

I'm not totally sold on the premise of this graphic novel but I'll go along for the ride.
