Wow, I loved this book. If it were longer, it would have been perfect.
I loved the premise (what's scarier than evil doppelgangers? I'm here for it.) but the book never...expands on it? Goes beyond what the reader immediately pictures when they hear the premise? Or, at least not until a little bit at the very end. For example: So the book is grim and gory but just holds that one emotional note the whole time and, even as a novela, becomes boring. The author could have cut out the frame story, , and all the times characters are allowed to ramble on about their pretentious interests and reading habits, and made it a really good short story instead.
Spoiler
My first thought, and probably a lot of peoples first thought (at least half of the people who read it, right?) was "what about her period?" but when that happens it's supposed to be a surprise...? (Neither of her parents, who in every other way are super on top of this shit, think to even warn her about that?)Spoiler
unneeded explanation for her condition tacked on at the end (was there any conceivable reason for her mother to not just tell her that at any point before then?)

WOW! What a story! Very strange, but in a good way.
This is a story about a crazy chick named Molly. Whenever Molly bleeds a duplicate of herself is born from her blood. And they're not very nice mollys. Molly is also very eccentric in her thoughts and behavior. She's not someone who's the life of the party, but she can be THE life of the party.
4 stars for cray cray Molly and the molliets.
This book was relatively short and felt rushed and the language was very confusing. I didn't absolutely hate it but I just felt like I was being pushed through the story of Molly and James and Leon and her parents rather than being led through it.
The ending felt convoluted and squished rather than natural and inviting. Nonetheless, I'm planning to adventure into the rest of the series to see if I can truly grasp onto whatever concept Tade was trying to convey

What the what. Such a strange little novella, I'm excited to read the next two though this stands well on its own.
I could not get past the childish cadence of the writing style. It made sense when Molly was a small child but less so as she becomes a young adult. She's sheltered, yes, but also apparently very well read. All I was hanging on for was the answer to the mystery, which is not enough for me.
