for how long and detailed the set up to the story was, i really wish the ending went a tiny bit slower; there was a long period of time ramping up to the ending where you definitely knew where it was heading, but the actual ending events itself breezed by rather quickly in my opinion. i enjoyed the book but i feel like the ending was a bit lackluster compared to the detail and time spent on other portions of the story. also the entire first half felt like its own book; it felt like it had its own rising action, climax, and falling action before part two began, which isn't terrible but i wish it flowed a bit more seamlessly

i'm intrigued by ellie's premonitions and wished those were explored more. also i absolutely hated how rachel was portrayed, she was literally nothing but a scaredy-cat, crybaby housewife, like come on, how lame of a character is that?? i get she has her past trauma regarding death and her sister zelda but still..

also, as usual, kings way of talking about women sexually is so off-putting and random lmao it gave me whiplash whenever he compared something totally normal to breasts or would mention prostitution out of the blue
