Stephen King always writes A LOT but every word is worth consuming. Michael C Hall’s narration adds another level to this story, with a variety of voices to convey each character throughout King’s epic tale.

Dieses Buch fängt langsam an und steigert sich zum Ende hin, sowohl was das Tempo als auch was die Handlung betrifft. Es ist gar nicht so sehr eine Horrorgeschichte, als vielmehr eine Geschichte über Trauer und darüber, dass Ratschläge bzw. Entscheidungen trotz guter Absichten ins Verderben führen können. Zwei Dinge störten mich: 1. In Kings frühen Büchern (70er & 80er) sind die Mutterfiguren häufig sehr hysterisch. Wir bekommen zu Rachel zwar den Hintergrund geliefert, aber ich fand ihren Streit mit Louis trotzdem drüber, wenn auch nicht schlimm. 2. Das Ende ist der Hammer, aber es bleiben Fragen (warum Pascow, was wird aus Ellie?). Kleine Wermutstropfen, die ich aber verschmerzen kann.

The tension in the back end of this book makes this book worth it. I enjoyed the story enough but the characters left me with wanting more.
Ich weiß wirklich nicht, wie ich das Buch bewerten soll. Es war das erste dieser Art, das ich gelesen habe und ich weiß nicht, ob ich mehr lesen will.
Es war definitiv einfach zu lesen. Also Lob an sowohl Stephen King, als auch die Übersetzer. Da ich generell auch nach langer Pause noch an der Geschichte interessiert war rechtfertige ich eine gute Bewertung.

I would say that it’s not the scariest that I’ve read (Gerald’s Game of the 10 King stories I read) but it’s definitely the one with the most dread. You know what’s going to happen and you can’t help but read on to see it happen. The characters feel so genuine as they always do with King’s novels. My kids are around the same age and I felt the truth behind their portrayal and dialogue. The kite scene specifically. So real. Then the next chapter is a total gut punch. Nearly to tears at that moment.

Honestly better than IT, as far as the actual horror scenes went. And certainly less boring in the parts between. I think this is the last Steven King I'm ever going to read, though.

Primeiro livro de terror que eu li. A internet criou muita expectativa em mim, fui ler achando que ia ficar sem dormir por uns dias. Talvez o livro tivesse sido melhor sem essa expectativa. Eu não fiquei com medo, mas fiquei triste e ansioso (isso é um elogio).
