"To be gorgeous, you must first be seen, but to be seen allows you to be hunted."

It feels odd to give a rating to a book like this for two reasons:

1. It’s a memoir that is very interwoven with the tragedies that Vuong has faced in his life.
2. The writing style was very unique and I really haven’t read books written in prose? I don’t even know if that’s the right word. On that note, I definitely can’t critique any technical aspects of the work.

It is a sad book, but I feel it’s expected if you know anything about the book before going in. and I found the middle and end to be a bit confusing and I got a bit lost in the time jumps and metaphors.

I might expand upon my review at another moment but for now I am going to leave it at that.

This might be the most beautiful book I've ever read. If there were 10 stars it wouldn't be enough. His language is gorgeous and the story is so tenderly told. I will read it again, and urge everyone read it.
