I’ve read poems by Ocean Vuong and seen his photography at Toledo Museum of Art. This book is a longer form of his excellent writing. It’s so sensory! I continue to be awed by the mastery he displays in expressing so many ideas at once. His interviews are just as fascinating and beautiful as his work.

I enjoyed the poetic style but found it difficult to follow the storyline with interwoven perspectives of different characters and timelines. The plot seemed rather loosely defined and not very substantial or action based. 
While the poetry was beautiful it felt like a collection of poetic punchlines that didn't quite come together for me in the story.

sometimes flow of consciousness books can lose me but vuong kept me hooked. So heartbreaking and compelling and also would make u so mad at the USA (what’s new) I think at times a bit slow
