Can’t tell if the beautiful writing made the shock of events hurt more or less - if I had been highlighting the sentences I loved most over half the book would have been done - it’s a shame that I’m unsure I’ll ever be able to reread it

to be honest the book didn't catch me at all, but i think when you are in the right head space for it, the book can be really good. the writing itself is beautiful.

I struggle to focus on more abstract prose so it took me a while to get into and I had to keep rereading paragraphs, but it's a beautifully written story. I think I'll really love Ocean's poetry.

Absolutely beautiful writing, with many moments that took my breathe away. Challenging subject matter that requires a slower pace of reading, to sit and process the content. A beautiful mesh of poem and novel and certainly worth a read.
