Bought this one off a Kindle sale, but was surprised at how much I really liked it! I thought it was full-on magical realism, but it turned out to be surprisingly grounded at the end. It was quite sweet how the three main characters created their own little family, and very heartwarming to see each of them grow.

A sweet story of love - family, romantic, parental, friendship. Easy reading and heartwarming.

captivatingly mundane prose about a woman, a man, and a girl, and how they help each other come back to themselves. sprawling dialogue that doesn’t drag and a simple premise made somehow enrapturing until the very end.

I really enjoyed the plot, the writing itself, and most of the characters. Jo, however, is possibly the worst main character I have ever had the displeasure to read about. Even by the end of the book, I found absolutely nothing redeemable about her.
