Lidia is a witch who is loosing her magic. In the hopes of regaining it she's packed her life up and moved to Nocturne Falls. It helps she's also trying to get away from her ex. Grey is a werewolf who can't shift. Thanks to an intentional act in his youth he's forever stuck as a human in a pack of werewolves. A dream brings them together but can Grey allow himself the joy of love?
One of those instant attractions that has the characters hooked on each other from the get go. This story is an enjoyable tale of two people finding a second chance at life, love and romance. A way for them both to grow and change things within their current lives. A beautiful addition to the Nocturne Falls Universe. Loved it.

It was very generous of Kristen Painter to have opened up the Nocturne Falls Universe to other writers, but this installment may well be an argument against the decision. A tale about a Witch and a Werewolf shifter, both in need of healing and repair, should have been compelling and more than a little magical. In this story, the instant mutual affection between the principals is unearned. And while there is the hope for both of them that their gifts might one day be restored, this tale is really about a dearth of magic and a loss of power.
Sheriff Merrow is present here, but not written true to character as other reviewers have noted. He's well-meaning but ineffectual. Willow the Jeweler Fae delivers "too little too late" (her words)... if you're going to have lynchpin/canon characters in your expansion-pack work, they should be recognizable.
I'd have loved to see this story told by Painter herself.

Overall, I give this book 3.5 stars and recommend it to readers who love the Nocturne Falls series. If you are a fan of Cate Dean too, I highly recommend this book, even if you’ve never read Kristen’s Nocturne Falls series yet. Hey, just maybe you’ll start reading the Nocturne Falls series after you read this book and fall in love with the town that celebrates Halloween all year around. My youngest daughter would definitely move there since she’s obsessed with Halloween.

So if you really like Nocturne Falls, you may like this. I thought it was OK, a bit good as a novella. The characters were simplistic with insta love and flat standard bad guys.
Spoiler
The ex boyfriend would have been an OK stalker but the son of a "very powerful" man, and werewolf that attacks her because she says no to his date and then attacks Harry just because he is a bully. This was very low 3 star, almost want to round down.

Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
TW: abusive ex-boyfriend, harassment and abuse from another man
This was a short and sweet instant love romance set in Nocturne Falls. Lidia has just moved the NF to get away from an abusive ex and to hopefully figure out why her magic is disappearing. Her short time in town is very eventful. She meets her soulmate, clashes with an abusive werewolf, and finds out why her magic is disappearing.
I liked both Lidia and Harrison. Both of them were damaged in their own ways but they used each other to heal. I also liked that their problems weren’t magically fixed instantly because that isn’t how life works. Overall, this was a short and sweet romance and I enjoyed it.

I loved this book, the contrasts between a witch and a werewolf who is too injured from an old wound that will not heal but also his own clumsiness was amazing. The protectiveness and the strength that they gave each other as well as the old dangers, the badass side of Bridget Merrow and the chaos of Nocturne Falls made it an amazing addition to the series. I would love to see more of the doctor in the future but was amazed to see an abusive dominance shown so well. It had my stomach turning in knots at times. I loved this book!

Kristen Painter has extended the Nocturne Falls Universe and got a bunch of authors to write novellas. I think they are a must read for fans of the Universe. And also a great way to discover new author- or at least to me they were all new authors.
A cute novella- BUT: Let's just get to my biggest problem: the romance. It's insta-everything.
I mean I know this is short and all, but does it all have to be this insta? Couldn't it be a wee bit more slow. I get the insta-lust. I am cool with that. But the one and only vibes... after a few days? Not my thing.
However besides that I enjoyed this. It fits right into Painters world. So defo a must read for fans.

I enjoyed this book, but it seemed like the relationship moved really, really fast. Not that things like that don't happen, it just seemed a bit far-fetched.
