A really moving coming-of-age story, and a great translation.

I was gripped from page one. The characters are complex, unique, and so lovable. Despite being voiced by a character who cannot identify and express his emotions, the book is absolutely full of them, in a tender and simple way that makes them even more powerful. Some popular Korean books, especially those about mental health, have fallen a bit flat for me - but not this one. I absolutely loved it.

Yunjae is stronger than me because if I had a school bully cussing me out and using me as a punching bag, I would've been out of there. Yet, I weirdly ended up liking Gon and Yunjae's relationship. They were supposed to be endgame fr.

People said there was no way to understand Gon. I didn't agree with them. It's just that nobody ever tried to see through him.

Everything we'd experienced together, was it truly real?

Somebody shook my shoulders. Gon was hugging me in his arms.

I stared at the period after 'Truly' for a long time. I hoped that period could transform Gon's life. Would we ever meet again? I hoped so. Truly.

LIKE WHAT THE FAWK 💔💔💔

Hmmm... i really wonder about the moral of the story. It feels anti-disability, either in the way Yun "overcomes" his alexithymia or the way it is questioned if he ever had it. I also thought he would die, and the ending made me wonder if the book is actually made for younger audiences. Other than that, I enjoyed the pondering of human expectations from Yun's point of view.
