It was fast paced, emotional, shocking at moments.
I had no idea the book was going to take such a sharp turn with the grandmother dying and the mother falling in a coma. (The foreshadowing was there but the violence involved in all of it was shocking.

Loved the ending-- it was maybe too perfect but it is a YA book.  The friendship between the two main characters was fun to read about.

A beautifully crafted coming-of-age book that centers around a young boy with a brain condition that singles him out at every turn, Almond is a book that is hard to forget.

I loved the juxtaposition between Yunjae and Gon, although they were such contrasting characters, I really loved the scenes of them interacting with each other and taking on the world they had been dropped into with such different approach.

There were so many things in this book that I thought were really clever, most of which I am hesitant to write about in detail for fear of ruining the plot... But I will say that I found Almond to be heartfelt, reflective, complex and impactful. I loved how the hopelessness and frustration leapt off the page in places and most of all, I loved how immersive and all-consuming the writing style was.

To książka, którą czyta się szybko, ale zostawia z refleksją. Myślę, że nie nada się dla każdego, ale warto po nią sięgnąć, jeśli interesują Was takie tematy jak życie z nietypowym schorzeniem, emocje,
tragedia w rodzinie

I read this one for a bookclub (even tho this is one of the books for April) but I am messy, ok? I really enjoyed it up to the Dora point, I am sorry but those boys were in love, maybe it was the translation but this had Boris and Theo vibes all over it and I will not take this heater nonsense, regardless it was such and amazing take on feeling and damn did I feel something was similar to autism with our mc but also I did not feel like it was exactly autism. I really enjoyed Gon as a characters, such a complex and interesting boy and also this book feels like the perfecto book to recommend to people who like to compare trauma like did Gon suffer a lot and deserves much better? yes but also Yunjae went through a lot of stuff and so we shouldn't be comparing what they went through or trying to make their traumas compete, that's not what life's about bc we all go through shit ok? I said through so many times my brain is melting.

Merry Christmas (or Merry Happy) to everyone reading this today btw
'kay, I'm out
Bye
