“Am I”, she whispered, “qualified to be in your story now?”

I have no idea how to put it into words but I really liked this book. Such an interesting and cute look into how emotions work.

Despite Yunjae’s inability to emote and react due to his brain condition, his narrative is very much human unlike the unkind words and perceptions of him from his peers. We see this young boy use questions and phrases to describe the feelings he does not technically feel nor understand, especially as he grows older, that is difficult for even very emotional beings to describe. It was touching to recognize the growth of emotions within him and him realizing as the story progresses and much more towards the bittersweet end.

So good. Gripping, raw, completely new storyline for me

i loved the first half of the book as a character study and even thought it would be a five-star read, but the plot in the second half didn’t resonate with me as much as i’d hoped. i think it's one of those books where i have to reread to truly appreciate it for what it is.
