I love romcoms and I’m glad to report that this one was fun! Leah and Eli slow burn romance kept me rooting for them to get together sinvce beginning. I’d like to see this book turned to series or as a movie!
If you’re looking for a fun rom-com to make you smile — read this. This istotally engaging and so enjoyable. I easily devoured this in one sitting.
A special thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press & Wednesday Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This plot was all over the place. Just utter chaos and not in a way that felt right at all.
The characters were good and all but the plot. I cannot get over how erratic it came across.
I think for a novel that literally has the words rom-com in it’s title, it does far too much paying homage to classic and staple rom-coms through title dropping then it actually does contributing to the sub-genre itself. Because the plot execution was none of the fun parts of rom-coms and just the drama of it all, and it was never delivered in a manner that left me with the cozy conundrum of guilty-pleasure-but-feel-good vibes that I attribute to rom-coms.
I want an HEA that I can invest in without shame, and this was not that.

I received an e-ARC of this book from SMP and St. Martin's Griffin through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
Trigger warnings: cancer, death, grief, foster care
I had hopes for this one, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I feel like the biggest issue I had with it was the pacing. The romantic storyline felt both too slow and too fast. There's obviously a level of angst and pining because of the premise, but I expected that to be wrapped up much quicker. At the same time, when the main characters finally got together, it was a little too fast? There'd been a lot between them for it to just magically go away so that was strange for me. I also felt like Eli as a character wasn't the love interest I was hoping for. His revelation of his feelings for Leah didn't happen in the best way and it kind of cheapened the moments between them. Also, there's a really weird scene toward the end that had me so confused on why it was necessary. However, I did really like the premise and I enjoyed the side characters a lot. I enjoyed what the book had to say about home and found family and understanding yourself. I just wish it had just been a little faster because it took me a month to read when I can usually get through romances in a day or two.

I love a great rom-com read, and a rom-com which lends homage to all the amazing 80s rom-com movies.....event better! While the plot wasn't entirely unique (girl waits for boy to come to his senses), it did not detract at all from the loveable characters. This is heartfelt, witty, and entirely entertaining. The narrator did a fabulous job of keeping my attention and bringing the characters to life. This is a cute one that I would definitely recommend for all the lovers of feel-good rom-coms! Thanks so much to Jayne Denker, the publisher, Dreamscape Media, & NetGalley for the opportunity to review this ARC audiobook!
