This series continues to be funny, heartwarming, and charming with adorable artwork and a great cast of characters! This volume was very short in comparison to previous volumes and only really focuses on the school festival, but it was a lot of fun (as usual). More characters were introduced, Katarina has a new goal now that her life is no longer in danger, and it was great seeing all these characters banter and be goofy.

Probably my favorite parts revolved around the play, with Nicol getting to be a heartthrob and Katarina getting to go back to her roots as a villainess. Although the scene with Keith and Mary was also hilarious, mostly because Mary is both charming and terrifying. I love how Katarina has effectively taken the role as reverse harem protagonist lead and doesn't realize it and how shamelessly all of her love interests not only fight over her but flirt with her. This is one of the few reverse harems that I can tolerate, mostly because it doesn't feel like one, but I still give it mad props for being enjoyable and adorable.

I'm suuuuper curious to see where that cliffhanger ending leads to, as well as learning more about the new characters introduced. Can't wait til then!

Sadly this volume was not as good as the other ones. I think this is because it is building up to another story arc so this volume was slower in pace and plot. It was nice to see all the characters relaxed, and the ending made it so I wanted to find out what happened next, but the lack of clear plot made this volume to be disappointing to read. I still liked the manga a lot, and I would still recommend the series regardless.

the anime definitely elaborated on the play a lot more with villainess Catarina plus the dance with Mary and Alan playing the piano and the fight between Geord and Nicol

Summary:

You know how the story goes. A high school girl wakes up to a new life – quite literally, for she's been reborn as Catarina Claes, a villainess and spoiled daughter of a duke. In other words, a big pain in the butt.

Somehow, Katarina Claes has managed to avoid countless Doom moments, successfully surviving to the graduation party. Unfortunately, it seems that there's a sequel to this dating sim, and now she's stuck in it! (Again)

Review:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: don't ever change Katarina. She's just as clueless in My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 5, but it is still highly endearing. Okay, and it's pretty funny too. This time her cluelessness felt a little more front and center as she dreamed up all these potential romances between the side characters. Too funny.

There's a real tongue-in-cheek moment in this volume that I know readers will like. That said, I think the anime had a bit more fun playing around with this scene, so make sure you watch the show so you don't miss out!

Finally, My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 5 concludes with another surprising twist. Isn't that always her luck? At least this time none of her friends got kidnapped, so that's something, right?

Interesting to see what Katerina is like when not afraid for her future, since the game she's aware of is over.
