  • -I think I expected Joyce (Jed's mother ) to be perfect that's why I was annoyed when she sometimes wasn't ( acted irrationally and stuff ) but I like her, I think the most in this book
  • poor Angie
  • fuck kale, like wth, he got forgiven for everything, he was shit to everyone, and he wanted to leave Angie and his daughter dude, keeping that huge secret from your wife and acting like a dick isn't enough huh!!!!!! he literally was the worst I mean , doing nothing to help + belittling her efforts and such and acting like a moody kid

This one takes on some interesting perspectives. The victims. The mother of the shooter.
It’s difficult to hold empathy for the shooter, and I don’t. I certainly can for the mother who brought him up wondering about all the red flags she missed. A mother who loved her son but is so shamed by the crime and hurt he inflicted.
The victims, six of them killed and one in the hospital, were at a bar that night for their reasons as we come to learn. Their lives are forever entwined because of the tragedy.
A little lengthy at the end could have been wrapped up a little faster. Somewhat predictable.
  • Mehhhh… I had high hopes, but, unfortunately, this turned out to be mediocre at best.
  • It’s not a mystery/thriller but more literary/contemporary fiction. It irritates me when I go into a novel expecting one thing and getting something completely different

I couldn't put the book down. I loved the different perspectives from each character, making you see the issue from their eyes. I can't wait to read more from this author.

I loved this book! I was hooked from the first chapter and that’s how I like my books haha like most of Hoopers book I notice similar tone which I can appreciate! I received an advanced copy and just happen to dive back into reading managing to finish four of her novels within a week

I’ll read anything about Boise so I started by judging this book by the title. It didn’t disappoint. From page one, I zoomed through chapter after chapter and could not put it down. Hooper delivered great twists and turns that kept me guessing.

No Hiding in Boise deals with a shooting in a bar that kills five people and injures two. It is told from many different perspectives, the shooter, the victims, but mostly by three women - the mother of the shooter, the wife of one of the victims and a bartender who survived the shooting. The author does a great job of going through the emotions and aftermath of the incident by the victims and their families, including the shooter's mother. Well developed characters and great writing. I haven’t read anything by Kim Hooper before, but I will be looking up her backlist! Highly highly recommend this book!

I never got the audio to download on netgalley and bought with my own money. I could not put it down. A very quick read; however, the story still haunts me! Lots of twists and turns. Great insight to repercussions that traumatic events can leave on active unwilling victims, and just how far the ripples extend outward!

Very dark…not a light and fluffy read…but then, a shooting and the following events are NEVER light and fluffy! IMO, a VERY good read with lots to think about afterwards! This is a great book for book club discussions.
