This was a beautifully written story of female strength and survival that really transports you to the North Carolina coast. Kya is one of those characters that can never seem to catch a break, but her perseverance throughout is remarkable. I would have liked a heavier focus on the murder mystery; this plot didn’t really pick up until the last quarter, and that was the part I enjoyed the most.
