ronan jesus christ lynch you shithead i love you with my whole heart

Listen, I adore the lynch brothers so I’m never gonna not enjoy a book about them and this was no exception! I think this was a good way to end their story. I will say I didn’t have a clue what was going on half the time, I don’t know whether that was due to a confusing storyline, me not remembering what happened in the previous books or it it was a mixture of both but I enjoyed it either way.

3.5 stars.

This book is hard for me to rate. In my opinion, this series was unnecessary, and also not nearly as good as The Raven Cycle. There were things I liked in all three books, and things I didn't. For this book specifically, I disliked that Ronan is absent for the vast majority of the book, and I wasn't particularly fond of Carmen, which means this book was a bit of a slog at times. Listening to the audiobook helped, as it keeps the story moving forward when I probably would've put the actual book down at several points and taken forever to get through it. The final few chapters salvaged most of my issues with the story, hence the rating, but I am probably one of the few who's glad this series is done, and hope the author has likewise come to the same conclusion.

Okay what a wild ride! This was so fast-paced and fun. And suuuuuuch a perfect wrap-up to this series and to the gang. Bawled my eyes out at the end. I just love these characters sooo much. Maggie Stiefvater's writing is so good.

I wasn't obsessed with this trilogy as a whole but these characters will always be so special to me.

maybe one day i will be able to review this properly but not today... it was actually a fucking rollercoaster of emotions but it was so good and it had the MOST perfect ending it could have had i loved it so much and i am so sad that this universe is over

edit after a few weeks of ruminating and reading tumblr takes about this i have removed one star! because i still loved it and thought it was really good but firstly gansey and blue would NOT be majoring in sociology he would take history and she would take environmental sciences no questions at this time please. and also apparently this was originally intended to be a more slow adult trilogy and not include the apocalypse or the moderators or carmen and nathan or anything and god that would have been so much better!!!! maggie stiefvater's problem in this universe at least seems to be that she just does too much like there was too much going on in the raven king and there was just a bit too much going in this book and i do think that simpler would have been better probably

***SPOILERS***

okay here is what i said i wanted before i started reading:
- ronan and adam happy ish ending (CHECK a very very happy ending i could not be happier)
- declan to be HAPPY and have a happy ending with jordan (also check!!!! he deserves this so much i love him dearly)
- henessey x carmen x lili (um no but kind of? carmen x lili but also rip lili i miss you! maggie was wrong for making lili be stuck in her old lady form while she and carmen were dating

This book was wild. The end of both an era and one of my favorite series / characters of all time. There were a few moments and people I wanted expanded upon a bit more but I admit to throwing my phone in horror as well as having tears of joy.
