As always, Maggie hits it out of the park. Sad to see the series end, but finishing this trilogy makes me yearn to great reread the Raven Boy series again.
I didn't have any expectations for this book. In fact, I put it off because I simply forgot that I hadn't read it yet. I didn't really have expectations for this trilogy in general. It was very different magic from The Raven Cycle, and I really loved the magic in The Raven Cycle, so I felt detached for a good portion of this. This trilogy is all metaphor. Turtles, all the way down. Dreams, all the way down. And metaphors are heavy, cumbrous things. So much of this trilogy was heavy. But the ending was nothing but light. Bright, sunrise-type light. I should have known, because I know how much Maggie loves Ronan. But the world's been weird, and this trilogy was weird, so who knew? In the end, I loved it. And Declan really has become my favorite Lynch. Who would have known.
