“Tell me, older brother: Did you want to keep him from danger or to keep him from being dangerous?”
Declan must be tired of carrying this trilogy on his back. Really, though, I think this just wasn't for me, the way the Raven Cycle was. The epilogue was beautiful though, and I really love Declan so you win some lose some I guess.
Spoiler
I'm still not sure what was going on by the end lmao Like Nathan was really just your average evil guy idek??? And making the matters worse, obsessed with bombs of all things. And Ronan had like, 3 dialogues in total and Adam even less so just. ? Everything felt so rushed I'm still processing what happened but especially everything around Ronan felt... incomplete, to say at least, this didn't feel like a final act for him. Idek idek I wish I loved this.
Maggie Stiefvater has redeemed herself, and hallelujah for it because I think she’s such a talented writer. This trilogy was much more fascinating than the Raven Cycle, and I thought it lived up much more to the ending, which was happy and beautiful and satisfying. The brothers Lynch are such intricate characters, or at least Declan and Ronan are. And Adam and Ronan :’) Maggie is so good about giving her readers maddening snippets into relationships, but at the same time satisfying snippets?? Idk how it happens.
I love Declan but WHERE WAS RONAN. WHAT IS RONAN. WHAT TF IS GOING ON.
