A cute read. Nothing overly special as far as plot or drama (since the plot was pretty straightforward and drama-less) but it made me giggle several times and that's pretty rare. Bret basically made the book for me - a bit of a brat, yes, but not annoyingly so. I finished the book with a smile on my face.

There is something to be said about going after things you want. But Daniel wants Marcus Tremeyne. He may not be a virgin, but he is new to the BDSM world and he is persistently stalks Marcus an experienced Dom. While Bret might be a brat, he has something Marcus just can’t ignore.

*Book source ~ Many thanks to NetGalley and Riptide for providing a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Marcus Tremayne is a Dom who frequents the local BDSM club Spread Eagle. When twenty-year-old hot and sexy Bret Daniels spies Marcus minutes after entering the club he decides Marcus is the Dom for him. When Marcus ignores him, Bret stalks him for weeks, waiting for Marcus to speak to him. The moment Marcus gives in is the moment both of their lives change.

This is the 3rd book in the series, but I didn’t feel as if I had missed anything by skipping books 1 & 2. Which is a good thing. While I do love a series that expands as each book comes along, I also prefer each book to stand alone. Contrary much? Yep. Anyway, this book made me curious enough to want to seek out the others, but didn’t irritate me by feeling as if I had missed something leading up to this book. Does that make sense? Well, it does to me. *winks*

I really love the writing. This is the first Kim Dare book I’ve read and I’ll definitely be checking out more of her books. I also love Marcus. What a yummy Dom. Though I have to admit I was a little disappointed he gave in so quickly to Bret. Bret, on the other hand, him I didn’t like so much. He was too bratty, too forward for my tastes. The steamy goodness of the scenes makes up for my opinion of Bret though. All-in-all I like this M/M BDSM story.

I’ve been a fan of Kim Dare ever since Duck! This MM BDSM Romance is a prequel to the “I Blame Bret” series and it certainly does live up to the standard of the other two. If you like your MM with a BDSM flavour and a bit dose of the “awwww” factor, I highly recommend this author.

Bret has been a major player in both the romance stories of the previous two Doms. Because of this, I already had a picture of him in my head. He is a cheeky, bratty sub with eyes for one Dom; Marcus. In this story, I got a picture of how he successfully stalked and caught the big Dom and it fit perfectly with his role in the elimination of the single status in the other two Dom’s in the club. He made me laugh all the way through but his decision to submit to only one man really brought on the warm and fuzzy feelings for me. It made their bond even stronger in my eyes, their relationship even more precious.

In quite a few of Kim Dare’s books, I find the book is slightly more angled towards the perspective of the submissive. This was the case in this one, which is set more from Bret’s POV, but the story cannot begin without the permission of Marcus to allow the scenes to start. Once he realises that the little stalker has wormed his way inside, he has no choice but to give them a try. I really really enjoyed Marcus’s character. Not many Dom’s would have given such a bratty sub a shot, even laughing along with some of his antics, but he did and the scenes where he Topped him were made all the more hot. How can you resist the submission of a man that submits to no one but you? How do you not fall for that man? Seriously, this book is so cute!

The sex scenes are of course oh so amazing! I was a little perturbed by the lack of negotiation of limits but I assume that, as Bret has absolutely no experience, it was assumed that there would be no limits. There was a safe word as well as limits imposed about how often they could play to keep the over eager newbie safe. Marcus is a pretty dreamy Dom and the scenes mainly take place within the confines of a club....all of these were positive points! There is D/s and S/M but nothing so shocking that readers new to BDSM would go running. It is all very well done.

Another fabulous short story from Kim Dare which is also a fantastic edition to the series. Watching this very bratty sub take down the Dom of his dreams is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours and I highly recommend it. Oh, and it’s the start to the series.....no others need to be read first!

I'm kind of ambivalent about this book. On the one hand, it's a cute, hot, fast-reading story with BDSM elements that I enjoyed. That, by itself, is pretty rare and I'm glad a friend loaned me this book. On the other hand, it falls too much on the 'fantasy' end of things for me to really love it.

Everything is perfect: Marcus is a perfect Dom, Bret is a brat, but he's still the perfect sub for the jaded Marcus (and to be fair and honest, I really did love Bret's presentation; committed and deeply wanting to submit, but not a boot-licking, cringing mess), the sex is perfect, and they're in love and ready to commit to collaring after...what? Three scenes together? It's an overdose of perfection.

However. I can't overlook the fact that these are normally HUGE peeves of mine, and yet Dare wrote it with a sense of fun and fantasy that made me still find the story very enjoyable. That's no small feat and takes talent.
