Double Take by Lynette Eason takes readers on an exhilarating journey with ideal pacing through suspense, faith, and romance, leaving them breathless and craving more. From the very intense opening scene, the narrative seizes attention, refusing to loosen its grip until the final, satisfying conclusion.

The characters in Double Take are not merely ink on paper; they come alive with authenticity and depth. Lainie's unwavering resilience and James' protective instinct capture the reader's heart. Lynette Eason skillfully intertwines their personal struggles within a riveting plot, achieving a delicate balance of heart-wrenching emotion, pulse-pounding action, and profound faith. As we witness Lainie's intimate prayers, such as 'God, give me strength. No, be my strength, Please,' and James' acknowledgment of human limitations—'… I can't save everyone. It sounds harsh, I know, but all I can do is the job I’ve been assigned – and called to do – in that given moment and pray that God takes care of the rest.'—the narrative delves into the profound intersection of humanity, vulnerability, and the direction and solace found in the Christian faith. These moments add a layer of relatability to the characters, making their journey all the more compelling.

The plot is a rollercoaster of unexpected twists and turns, keeping me guessing at every corner. Eason's skill in crafting suspenseful narratives is on full display, and the psychological depth of the mystery surrounding Lainie's past kept me on the edge of my seat. The incorporation of the Christian faith adds the perfect foundation and essential layer to the story, reminding readers of the strength found in trust and reliance on God.

One of the standout features of Double Take is the exploration of PTSD, bringing a level of realism and relatability to the characters. Eason delicately addresses this topic, weaving it seamlessly into the threads of the story, enhancing the characters' complexity and the overall narrative.

The romantic aspect of the book is beautifully executed, adding a sweet and tender layer to the fast-paced suspense. The relationship between Lainie and James is both heartwarming and realistic, creating a satisfying emotional payoff.

Double Take is a riveting page-turner that seamlessly blends suspense, romance, and biblical truths. Lynette Eason has once again proven her mastery in the genre, delivering a must-read for fans of thrilling mysteries with a faith-focused touch. I wholeheartedly recommend Double Take to anyone seeking an immersive and satisfying reading experience.

This is my fair and honest review in exchange for an ARC.  This is a typical Lynette Eason book.  Full of twists and turns, fully developed characters, an excellently plotted mystery, and light on the romance.  There is no insta-love here but rather, the romance is in the background.  The suspense and the mystery are the story, the happily ever after is not based on the shakey foundation of love in response to tramua.

I could not put this book down there where so many twist and turns I wasn't sure what was going to happen next. While some of the story was calm/slow pace even in this moments made you wonder who was after Lainie. I liked Lainie even though with her family she was a "push over", I feel like we all have those moment so it made her very relatable. James was very reserved but the author made who so relatable as well. I will say I want to know more about Cole he was so active in this book it leaves you wanting more from him. Overall this book was a great read and the author kept it clean so suitable for all those suspense readers out there.

This book starts out tense and really never lets up. Lainie goes through so much in this story in her own personal life and with a background of family issues. James of course is around to help her out with perfect timing. But how they get their HEA is full of twists and turns.

The mystery in this book was fairly unique and really keeps you guessing. The police work to find the bad guy keeps the story moving but not quite as fast paced as I was expecting with how the book opened.

Since this is Christian fiction the romance moves slow and never progresses past flutters and kisses but it was organic and realistic. James was the perfect protective guy. Lainie was in need of protection. We all know how that ends.

I will definitely grab book two to read when it comes out

Thank you to NetGalley and to Libro.fm for the ARC and ALC of Double Take by Lynette Eason. All opinions are my own.

Before reading this book, I had heard of Lynette Eason but had never read any of her books, but now I would love to read more.

I don’t typically read thrillers, but the premise that included a romance and the fact that the author writes Christian fiction intrigued me enough to give it a try.

I really ended up enjoying this book so much that I listened to the whole book in one day.

It’s the kind of story that you just can’t put down because you want to know what happens next. I also couldn’t guess the mystery aspect at all, so the reveal at the end was great.

The faith elements really added to the story, and I found them to be realistic and relatable.

The audiobook was excellent, and I definitely recommend it if you like audiobooks.

Overall, I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a fast-paced book with an unpredictable plot, lovable characters, and a sweet romance.

A crazy ex who is supposed to be dead. But is he?

Our main character, Lainie, went through a very traumatic experience, and now someone who looks like her ex-boyfriend is out to get her. But it can't be him? Can it? Meanwhile, her crush from her childhood reemerges. His dedication to helping her resolve this issue is causing the wall she erected around her heart to crumble brick by brick.

If I had to describe this book, it would be a cross between a Lifetime movie and an episode of 20/20.

I thought I had it figured out, and the more the story went on, the more I changed my mind, and in the end, I was wrong. This story kept me engrossed and excited to see what would happen next. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery. I can't wait for the second book in the series to come out. Ms. Eason did a great job with this one.
