Per i miei gusti questo non è il miglior romanzo di Follett, anche perchè io continuo a preferire i suoi romanzi storici; le premesse sono molto interessanti, ma ho trovato lo svolgimento e la conclusione un po' prevedibili.

Hard to believe this is the same writer that also wrote the pillars of the earth and fall of giants. very meagre in comparison.

Enticing and exciting. Once I picked it up it was hard to put down.

I hear many saying that this is a book comparable to ken's eye of the needle. but on reality it was no where near to it
yes it was thrilling and fast paced
but after a certain period you feel those flashbacks were taking you away from the plot. also the sex scenes in this book were totally unnecessary. I was wondering whether that part of the book was perhaps written by chetan bhagat!!! but overall the story was not bad. good to try after reading some serious novels

3.5 really.

In 1958 the launch of America's first rocket into space was delayed twice. This novel makes up the reasons why. And they're so far fetched you have to stop yourself every few minutes before delving back in.

Nothing boring about anything Follett writes. The story is fun and fast paced. It's just that the premises are so laughable.

I had high hopes for this book, especially since I love reading Ken Follet, but this fell flat. there was cheesy love scenes and just bad writing about love, I almost put the book down. this will not be on my re-read list nor would I recommend it to anyone. the only redeeming thing about this book was it wasn't predictable on why the main character's memory was erased.

Ken Follett has had his high moments, like Key to Rebecca, Jackdaws and Eye of the Needle, and his low ones, like Lie Down with Lions (in which a single diaper is used to wrap a new born during a long journey in the frigid mountains - really?). Code to Zero is somewhere in between, a spy novel set during the early days of the space program. There is some intrigue and excitement and you definitely want to find out who is the bad guy, but the ending is a bit of a let down. Nonetheless I enjoyed the book and plan to mail it to my dad, who has just recently been introduced to Ken Follett's books.

Suspenseful and fun, with historical details that feel nostalgic even though I wasn't alive during the time the book is set.
I read in an interview that Follett's approach to writing is straightforward: the simpler the prose is to understand, the better.
Gotta dig that. Even though flowery prose can be tasty, I read books to feel things, and I feel things when I love characters who are being put through the ringer, not when an author uses a florid turn of phrase. The characters in Code to Zero are vivid and a joy to be around, and the plot is fast-paced and electric. I had a blast!
