The protagonists in this book are genuinely endearing. The friends to lovers arc was executed really well, with the progression of their relationship feeling entirely believable. It was rewarding to watch their bond strengthen as best friends before any romantic elements emerged. The side characters were equally memorable, never fading into the background.
While the story leans more heavily on romance than plot, the conclusion suggests that this may shift in book 2.

There are so many things that frustrated me about this book, the least being that it’s the first of six books plus novella. I think some scenes were dragged and found myself skipping a LOT.
