I can’t believe I’ve never added this book to goodreads - it’s been a Christmas tradition my whole life. My dad read it to me before bed every Christmas Eve, even when I was in university. When Mini-Me was born, Dad got the record-a-book version for us, which was the best present ever. Reading this book is still my favourite part of Christmas.

I own several versions of this story. Mary Engelbreit's art in this one is just amazing. Truly beautiful.

It was my mom's family tradition to always read this story on Christmas Eve and it has been mine as long as I have known. Although I have the story memorized and my brother and I fight over who can read what parts, the book is sweet telling of the happenings of Christmas Night.

C isn't really interested in this book yet. Will have to be sure to try again next year. I don't know if different illustrations would make a difference to him.
