Not My Romeo is another small-town romance book I picked up this month. It was a recommendation from Likewise and it was a lot of fun. So this book is set in the outskirts of Nashville, and we start the book with Elena showing up late to a blind date that just so happens to be on Valentine's Day. Well she ends up meeting with the wrong person and not only is it the wrong person but it's a famous football player! She had no clue who he was since she had never watched TV. He liked that she treated him like any other guy, so he played along with the ruse, and the two hit it off. I loved how they met and thought it was so cute. Now it goes a bit too far since they end up sleeping together, and he never explains who he is to her. So, of course, when she finds out, she's really hurt and embarrassed since he never disclosed who he is. Both of them have a lot of baggage. Still, Jack definitely comes with a little more than Elena because he's trying to fix his image since he's seen as this horrible guy in all of the media due to his ex and the fact that he never really disputes anything publicly. Even though I liked the book and had a lot of fun with it, I was left wanting more from it. Elena was super quirky, and she's had a pretty rough year. The two have a lot of chemistry and start everything with an expiration date, so it was only supposed to be fun for a fixed time frame. Still, they ended up falling for one another and having a happily ever after. I just wanted more drama in this book since it felt like it was building up so many different things, such as Elena's ex! Her ex is this big womanizer, and we even have a scene at the beginning with him trying to tell her who she can. We can't date even though he's currently dating her sister, but then he just likes vanishes. I wanted a scene where he came in and caused a big moment, and we just had a ton of chaos, but it never happened. He just kind of disappears. Then we should've had some more drama with Jack's ex, too, since she caused many of his issues, but it was very tame compared to the stories we heard about her, and I wish we would've had more happen.
