I saw a few people hated that it was not chronological but the jumps made perfect sense. I don’t think the stories would be as impactful if they were in order.

The last chapter was the perfect place to end it, even if it was not recent.

An incredible reflection on the performance of not being who you want to be that stemmed from childhood for Elliot Page. Page spent most of his life wandering and pleasing. With a great work ethic at a young age, his ambition carried him to a prolific career as an actor. The timeline isn’t singular, which makes it more reflective. The stories with fellow actors adhere more to the relevance of Elliot’s life than being a headline.

I love EP and appreciate his vulnerability in this piece. However, the majority of the novel was challenging. Pedophelia, non consensual physical advances, parental abuse/neglect, parental abandonment/narcissism… yowza was this a potluck of triumph and pain. Not what I had in mind going into it, but I’m grateful for the read. It was really nice being able to trust his account of things so easily; he’s able to hold the good and the imperfect about himself and his choices so earnestly and mindfully compassionate that it was clear the work he’s done. Bravo for lovely people

The non-linear timeline of this book didn't work great as an audiobook! I kept having to go back to check if I'd missed something. 
Overall could've used a little more light moments (à la Jeanette McCurdy) but always glad to have more published queer authors (and Canadians!)
