it feels weird giving memoir's a star rating, but this one doesn't come from the content of the book; moreso the writing of it. still enjoyable, still worth reading imo !!! got some cool movie/music/book recs mentioned in here that i'm excited to check out !!

A little confusing to read bc if his decision to jump around so much on the timeline. Made it difficult to place certain chapters in relation to previous ones, but overall a really beautiful story that felt authentic and raw.

Painful and honest and beautiful. Page doesn’t sugarcoat the trauma that comes with having to live a lie day in and day out. He pulls no punches; just takes you right there. Despite the painful content the book was a pleasure to read: the voice felt honest, the structure, which jumps around in time but was never confusing, made more sense than chronological would have, and I cherished hearing about the relationships (especially the one with the beloved Mo) that in one way or another got him to where he is today. A great contribution to my ongoing attempt to more fully understand, appreciate, and support the trans experience.
