I enjoyed this book, Karin Slaughters writing is so descriptive it really paints a fun picture but that being said I think this one could have been 100 pages shorter and still been a great book. The extra details make it very graphic and perhaps too much for me.
The twist this one takes leaves you just as confused as the main characters wondering who they can trust amd who is out to get them.
It took me about 150 pages to really get into the one, I'm not a fan of a 3rd person narrator, but by page 150 I found the story to be fast paced, stressful and anxiety ridden being right there with the characters.
👉 Morally Grey characters
👉 rape
👉 torture

Loved the story and plot. The details made the two main characters feel so real. I certainly had my share of tears reading it. I will say that there was a lot of details that were so overwhelming to read and seemed to be just for shock value. It was disturbing! Overall a great read. Loved the suspense and mystery of it all

Really heavy and intense… but man the twists kept me going and I have never found a book character that I have hated so much until this book. I think it’s because the story line and character is too easy to think of being real and that’s what makes it more intense.
