Feels very MFA (derogatory). I'm not a fan of books where the MC doesn't have a reason to exist and just kind of moves around experiencing sad and bad things (looking at you, catcher in the rye). the writing is opaque and unsatisfying in its telling. i fell into the rhythm a few times but otherwise, it was a bit of a trial, both conceptually (zombie apocalypse and being undead = lesbian breakup) and in the words, which felt laced with meaning that we were not privy to. would probably work way better as a short story.

  • interesting plot, hard to follow at times though
  • really really sad
  • like you're dead and you can't even grieve properly or anything like youre stuck
  • world building is cool. like the undead nature of it all. incredibly bleak tho like thinking about the grandma
  • will need to reread a bit or read other reviews. a book that needs to be discussed with others i think

I struggle with narratives like this but overall I enjoyed this book. Some moving prose about death and grief that spoke to me.
