From the first page, I was obsessed! This story had everything - great characters, a great plot, a really interesting setting and magic system (kinda). I just loved the journey that Mia went on and I was rooting for her every step of the way. All the side characters were so good, the plot twists were genuinely surprising, and the story was unique! I need the sequel now!

I absolutely love this book. In the start, this book seemed stagnant, but not boring and grabbed my attention at best times. The author was able to create a world so seamlessly that I loved everything. There were moments that left me in goosebumps and each part was entertaining - the best one was when she said that she was made of steel, and not glass or iron.

Mia was a character that was very complex and interesting. There was a portrayal of the past and present Mia where it showed a different side of her, and this create a very interesting plot line. That includes all the misfortunes or bad luck that she went through, because it kept the pace in a great manner. Her relationship with Bastard, the horse, was one of the highlights of this book - the way that they hated each other, but were always there was an amazing portrayal - and the way that Bastard returned to her in the end - so great. I also loved how Mia forged her relationship with her enemies, friends, teachers and lovers. There was a fine line that Mia could have crossed, but she stayed true to her character. In terms of enjoyment, I loved from the moment that Mia joined the Red Church and underwent through the trials, classes and managed her connections. It was amazing how the author was able to demonstrate all this.

The whole storyline was well crafted and amazing. I liked the aspect of training assassins, creating friends and being deceived by them. It was a beautiful rollercoaster that I couldn’t look away from. Ash’s betrayal was something unexpected, but her betrayal was so sweet that I can’t wait to see what happens next. I am very intrigued how she fairs with the opposing team and the next time they face. Also, Tric was a character that I couldn’t help but to love - he was extremely charming. The way that he made Mia feel safe was so romantic. I still am not convinced that he died, but that question will be answered by the next book. Regardless, as for the other aspects - like her relations with her teachers was also well-done. The way that the author was able to make every character very prominent and memorable, even if they were countless, was exceptional.

Overall, I loved this book and can’t wait to continue this journey. I believe that this book will continue to get better and better. I loved how it wasn't entirely focused on her, but also those around her and other secondary characters - very well done. I can only hope that it Mia’s characters develops and grows. I am very excited. I’m left with multiple questions and I want all the answers.
