Why do I love these books so much... I don't know what it is about them, but these books where Elizabeth grows to love Mr Darcy once they're married are such a weakness for me!
What I immediately loved about this book was how it gives Austen lovers a chance to see what the Bennet family could be. Although this comes at the price of Mr Bennet's health, even Lydia improves in behaviour, and it's beautiful to see how Mr and Mrs Bennet rekindle their faded attraction to each other and find happiness in their last few years together (not to mention the sudden emotional realisation of what had happened in the last chapter when the book mentioned Elizabeth's brother... *tear*).
I think the outcome of Elizabeth and Mr Darcy's relationship would have been more satisfying if she had really despised him at the start, instead of merely disliking him and not paying him much attention. However, I do realise that there are many books out there like that (of which I have read most), and she can't always go through the same transformation. So overall, I am a very happy reader, and have had my daily Austen fix thanks to Elizabeth Adams.

This story started in a more distant sort of third person that reminded me of the source material but did make me a little afraid that it wouldn't be to my liking. (It's a style that takes talent, so I'm always hesitant.) It softened a bit as it got deeper into Elizabeth and Darcy's story, though, so I did end up enjoying the way it was written. I read most of this in one sitting.
I liked seeing Jane's interactions with London society and with Bingley almost more than I liked Elizabeth and Darcy. She had new and interesting thoughts and conflicts, while the latter couple traversed very familiar ground, but without much of the external conflict that makes their story interesting. Lydia is a brat, but then she's boring. Wickham disappears except for Darcy's information about him. I was hoping at least that he'd run away with Maria Lucas or something, but no luck. Mrs. Bennet has some obnoxious moments, but they don't really cause anything other than momentary embarrassment.
It wasn't bad, and I did enjoy spending a few hours with Elizabeth and Darcy as they sorted out their new lives, but it was fairly lackluster. 3.5 stars rounded up.
