First off, iCarly was probably the most formative piece of media during my tween years so I knew this book was going to be heavy on the existential vibes for me but wowza. Jennette is a beautiful writer, and she captures such small nuances in every single person in this book, it brings the readers (or listeners I guess hehe) into the journey with her. I wouldn't say this is a particularly uplifting read, but I found the messiness of it all to be very relatable and human. And despite deep dives into some pretty heavy topics like disordered eating, mental illnesses, and familial abuse, Jennette's voice is brimming with humor and irony. I also thought it was interesting to hear her mention she wrote poetry when she was younger, and I think that influence shines through in the way she structures her chapters and the book as a whole. This was also a really great book to listen to and get to hear the emotion in her voice as she tells her story.

Wow. What an important book. The author's candor and perseverance are just so amazing. So much of her experience are things I could never relate to, but some are, and I'm grateful for her reflections and wisdom. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes memoirs. It's one of the best I've read.

Incredibly raw and open book about the abuse Jennette faced at the hands of her own mother.
