true geniune human experience of someone who has been through so much. left me with so many emotions.

Jeanette McCurdy’s writing feels like the words of somebody who has found solace on a page. The talent in her storytelling is undeniable, and she shares the ins and outs of her sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking upbringing with a dry wit and jarring self-awareness that makes the book hard to put down. McCurdy walks you through her biggest trials and tribulations- her acting career, her battle with her own body, her relationship with her mother- as though it’s happening in real time, and the vulnerability, the honesty, the rawness of it all is as shocking as it is delightful! Check the book for trigger warnings- the topics dealt with are dark and McCurdy doesn’t mince her imagery- but if you’re in the right mindset for it, I thought this was an incredible debut from a woman that has so much more to say.

Im about 10 years too old for I Carley and hadnt heard of Jennette McCurdy, however a friend suggested I listened to this book and she was right!
What a childhood Jennette had, or rather a lack of one. Absolutely shocking how she was treated by her mother and I'm so glad she got herself the help she needed.
