This romance is the slowest of the slow burns! Like I’ve been ready for them to get together since they met in book one and I’m still waiting. Don’t get me wrong I love the suspense and the progression of the mystery. Also I don’t mind some slow burn.

The scene in the club got me all types of ways and I want more of that in book 4 but I’m not sure since what happened at the end of book 3. I’m in love with both Malcom and Yoon. They both make me happy in their own ways but they’re issues with communication are going to be the death of me

“What changed?”
You, Malcolm thought.

look who finally decided to continue this series AND wrote a review 🥰

ANYWAYYYYY, i'm so glad i got back to malsj as soon as i could we don't talk about the almost one year it took me to bc they're so perfect and precious and just everything oHmgggGGGGGG

Seong-Jae did not know what to say. He never knew what to say in moments like this, when more delicate human emotions were placed in his hands and he was expected to unlock them like a puzzle box he had never had the key to.

when i saw my review for book2, i was so shocked seeing me screaming my love for malcolm probs my daddy issues acting up that's not to say i don't love him now or anything. but since i started rereading the series, and now that i read book3, i feel so so much more connected to, invested in, and in love with seong-jae. he is me. i am him. and not just bc of our tendency to fall for older men PLUS WHY DID I MISS HOW HOT HE WAS BEFORE (read: was too busy comparing him to chu wanning and yapping about malcolm khalaji) and i'm not saying this only bc of the leather pants and motorcycle- but srsly, i can be a better bf, seong-jae, just one chance, that's all i ask for 😔✋🏻

“I’ll behave,” he said.
I do not think you are capable, Seong-Jae thought.

I lovED MALCOLM IN THIS ONE (when do i not?) like he's just so hot and sweet and kind and soft and hot and smart and did i mention HOT!? he's just so so perfect and i'm abs in love with him. icl he does sometimes kinda, a little bit, just a little bit annoys me but it's fine i've realised and come to accept the fact that i can't be mad at him for too long. can't even last 5 seconds

“I still hate you, Malcolm Khalaji.”
“I know you do, Seong-Jae Yoon,” Malcolm said.
But for some reason, he just couldn’t stop grinning.

if i can't have seong-jae for myself, i'll gladly let malcolm have him, IF HE HURRIES THE FUCK UP BC I NEEDED THEM TO FUCK YESTERDAY

THE TENSION. THE BANTER. THE CHEMISTRY. IF THEY DON'T FALL INTO BED, PREFERABLY NAKED, IN THE NEXT VOLUME I'M GONNA LOSE MY GODDAMN MIND

horny thoughts aside, i love how it's not just the physical tension that's growing between them but also the emotional connection and i'm acc glad they're getting the time to know each other. i mean, i know its mostly push and pull and denial and miscommunication but the buildup is so delicious and i just know it's gonna be soo good when it finally explodes AND I CANT WAIT FOR IT

i wasn't that invested in the case this time but the ending made up for it. and now i'mma go start book 4 (plstell me they get together, it doesn't seem likely aaftr someone showed up, but i still have my fingers crossed)

Criminal Intentions: Season One, Episode Three
The Man With the Glass Eye
Book 3 in the Criminal Intentions series
Author Cole McCade
Narrated by Curt Bonnem
Publication date Apr 26, 2022
Running time 8 hrs

Malcolm Khalaji, a Baltimore Detective, is one of the sexiest, most fascinating, characters I have encountered. Malcolm is in his late forties, divorced, and dedicated to his craft. Some of the things that intrigue me about Malcolm are his large wardrobe of bespoke suits, his care for those who are in need, and his ability to be a gay man in a profession that until recently did not acknowledge any queer people were in the profession. He is masculine, strong, caring, and a good lover. What's not to love?

Seong-Jae Yoon is not only Malcolm's partner but also his superior. He transfers to Baltimore after his partner shot an unarmed man in the back. Soeng-Jae is a rule follower. He is uptight and does not relax.

By the third book, his relationship with Malcolm is like a Magic 8 Ball. One minute trusting, the next angry, then suspicious, then exasperated. Something is evolving between Malcolm and Soeng-Jae and like evolution in nature, it is messy.

I want to take a moment to mention the content warnings listed in the book. They are extremely thorough. I wish more authors were in-depth. Saying a book contains violence and then finding that violence is something much more graphic than simple violence. It benefits readers when authors take the time to make complete content warnings.

This is the first time I have encountered the work of Curt Bonnem. His narration was great. Malcolm has a gravely voice while Soeng-Jae's is very formal. No matter what the chapter contains, I could always identify which of the two main characters were speaking. Mr. Bonnem also does a good job on the Baltimore accent. It has been years since I heard it on a regular basis but Mr. Bonnem's narration matches my memories.

I had the opportunity to read the first book in the Criminal Intentions series before Tantor Media offered an audio copy of the third book. I am really glad I did. I will be working through the entire series in either Kindle or audio format. I agreed to write an honest review.
