A powerful and beautiful read about life after the loss of a loved one and the journey to self discovery and single parenthood’s struggles. This book was beautiful, I found myself really enveloped on all this book offered on culture and love and dreams. I cried, i wept, i smiled! I loved it and all it offered. I will say its a slow painful journey for Baxter to settle in and wait for it all to unfold!

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a well written story of a father trying to escape the grief he feels from the loss of his wife and help his daughter do the same. When they find out about previously unknown family in Spain, Baxter takes his daughter to visit. What they find is welcoming and confusing, as they try to embrace the more relaxed environment. A tale of a parents love and the lengths a parent will go to protect their child. Walker’s descriptive writing brings the scenery to life immersing the reader in the warmth of the Spanish sun.

Thank you so much Amazon Publishing for providing me a physical ARC of this title.

This is an appealing heartwarming story. The book was a bit slow at the start. But as the story progressed forward it turned out into a wonderful read. There are many interesting things that I like about this book.

I requested this book because of its title and luckily it didn’t let me down. The writer described Eastern Spain beautifully in this book. I could feel the olive groves, sunrise and mountain tops of Spain and many more. Boo Walker has his own way of making things feel real.

The plot setting of this book is stunning and moving. All the characters are likeable. The way Baxter and Mia suffered in the start was very heartbreaking for me. They went to Spain because of Mia’s condition and it improved a lot. But there were certain new challenges, mysteries and decisive moments waiting for them especially for Baxter. The story was more pleasing after it moved to Spain.

Sophia’s family characters seemed wonderful to me, in the sense that almost every character in Spain was double layered

I really liked this. I taken read and listened to the audio. I loved the accents and the story was good too. It kept my attention and I liked watching Baxter grow and become the man and father he was supposed to be. A nice pleasant read. Will definitely check out more of this author.

Overall a very good book with a wholesome storyline. I loved the Arroyo family and how the relationship grew and Baxter’s acceptance of their open arms grew across time. I did find myself frustrated with Baxter’s early thought process, but tried my best to understand him. Other than that, I really enjoyed the ending of the story and the happy outcome for everyone!

I couldn’t get into the characters and the dialogue was cringey.
