I am always looking for texts that combine science with storytelling to use in the classroom. The introduction of The Disappearing Spoon was written in a conversational style using personal anecdotes, and I preferred that to the three chapters that followed. Some of the science discussed went beyond what is required of an introductory high school chemistry course, and the material went over my head. I skipped reading this for a few days, and I decided to DNF because I was just not motivated to return. There may be a YA version, so I may try that out instead.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not only did it have interesting content, the author’s sarcasm and humor made it fun to read. I appreciated that he combined the stories of the people and other concepts of science in this book. I would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed lots of information, both science and history, that were super interesting to learn about. It dragged a little and at time a touch repetitive but overall really enjoyed! I’m not usually a huge chemistry girlie but this was great!
