I picked this up because I generally love Morrison's stories. Having read "52" years ago, I was curious about how DC ended all the old story lines before the New 52 reboot.

It felt very disjointed, unfortunately. Characters I was unfamiliar with showing up just long enough to get killed (or 'justified')is not unexpected, but too many of them just makes the head hurt.

I was, honestly, disappointed. Part of that may be because I am not an enormous Superman fan. Yes, I like the Man of Steel, but a practically invulnerable character gets a bit dull -- I like flawed heroes and found the alternate Supes far more interesting than the original in this volume.

Am I glad I read it? Sure. Would I read it again, or buy my own copy? Sadly, no.

This is a tale of super big proportions but it has difficulties to make you feel that. To be honest it’s too big to be edited into a condensed version, you can definitely tell. The frame work works ok but the telling is so fragmented that it is hard to understand what’s going on at times. Certain episodes stands out in a good way though and there I want to mention Superman Beyond and Batman’s The Butler did it.

There was a lot I didn't follow of this one and I'm not sure if I missed a prequel or what.
