Such an amaaaazing fantasy (zombies, yay!) historical fiction read with a Black woman as the main character!

A creative alt. history/zombie novel. Some plot points were a little convenient, but a very enjoyable read.

B+

I've been telling students about this book since I first read about it (and yes, they think I'm really weird). "Zombies! Gettysburg!" Anyway, I really enjoyed it. There were surprises I didn't see coming, I enjoyed the characters, there's enough there for a second book... I'm pretty thoroughly pleased. Romance is hinted at with some background characters, but the book follows two very strong female leads who are both real ass-kickers in their own ways. Can someone please make this into a movie or tv show please?

This book was brutal. The start was a bit slow but once I saw what a badass Jane is and understood the threat of the shamblers, I enjoyed every minute of it.
