I have loved everything I have read by [a:Agatha Christie|123715|Agatha Christie|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1589991473p2/123715.jpg], so I naturally had high expectations going into this play (note: I read the version adapted into novel by Charles Osborne, however the original play was written by [a:Agatha Christie|123715|Agatha Christie|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1589991473p2/123715.jpg]).

Halfway through, I had a very solid idea of who I thought had killed Richard Warwick, and then when it was all but revealed in black and white, I was let down. How on earth had I been able to predict the ending to one of the Queen of Crime's plays? But oh boy, will I never be so egotistical again. The final twist on those last few pages completely blindsided me. I did not see it coming at all, and realised everything I thought I knew had been subtle red herrings placed throughout the play. One day soon I need to reread this to pick up on all the clue I'm sure are scattered through the play that my ignorant mind completely missed. Brava, Ms Christie, brava.

I don't know why I keep being surprised every time I read Christie and there's some super outdated portrayal of some marginalized group. Ending was a bit far fetched.

This was a quick, fun read (as much fun as a murder mystery can be). It was originally written as a play by Agatha Christie, and adapted by Charles Osborne. I found it on the library's digital shelves when I was searching for [b:Marple: Twelve New Mysteries|58900183|Marple Twelve New Mysteries|Naomi Alderman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1651661807l/58900183._SY75_.jpg|92798764] and thought it would be interesting. Everyone is a suspect, until the end, and then there is a bit of a twist. It's not a big one because even I figured it out, but it was still a decent Christie book.
