A good read! Very easy to tell it was a play first that's been adapted to a book! Very clever plot twists throughout and in all a very enjoyable read!

This book was great! I loved it! Excellent "who dunnit" mystery - a real page turner right up to the end! There was one bad word on it, no sex scenes. It was written as a play but they give you the state set up drawing in the beginning so you can totally picture everything that is going on. If you like classic mysteries, I'd highly recommend this one!
The Unexpected Guest by Agatha Christie was originally written as a play and I must say, it has all the things that make it a really good one!
The Unexpected Guest runs his car off the road because of a heavy fog and is stuck in front of a house. He walks upto the large French Windows and enters only to find a man, shot in his wheelchair and his wife holding the gun.
She admits to have shot him but is it all? The Guest decided to help her but it isn’t Christie style to leave matters so simple and one by one you get to it all!
This was one hell of a roller coaster and so many twists and turns packed in one novel! I enjoyed it so much. There was a hint of Classic Christie mixed with Charles Osborne’s novelization and I highly recommend it!!
I finished it in one sitting!
It makes a perfect cozy read and I give this one 4/5

"De echte climax is er (zoals we gewend zijn van Agatha Christie) pas op het allerlaatste moment."

Wow. This book had me exclaiming out loud because I did not expect that plot twist ending! The story was a whirlwind that kept me guessing till the very end. Just when you think you know who done it, things take a turn and you're caught back up in the mystery. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I've been in an Agatha Christie mood lately, but this story was definitely the best mystery so far (which is saying something because she is brilliant!!). Much thanks to Charles Osborne for this novelisation because WOW! I really enjoyed this.

I didn't know what to expect from this novelisation of an Agatha Christie play. Would the magic be lost? Would the prose be painful? A very happy no on both counts!
This book opens up on a foggy November evening, a man has his car stuck in a ditch. He runs up to the nearest house and doscovers a woman holding a gun and her dead husband.
Why does he feel compelled to help? Who in the house can be trusted? Has anyone ever penned a more pathetic seeming police sargent and exasperated inspector pairing?
This was great. The twist shocked me...I figured it out with 8 pages to go and about 4 pages before we're told which is basically peak mystery enjoyment right there.
The novel is written well, and honestly I think Osborne did a great job of capturing Christie rather than pretending to be her. My only problem was that, really, this could have been novelised a bit more thoroughly...I can see exactly how this was a play and to be honest a print of the play would have achieved much the same outcome.
But, this was an Agatha Christie plot...naturally it didn't disappoint. Shes so perfect for cold winters nights =D
