A solid set-up for a hopefully, climatic 17th book. I really like that it's Emma who finds the god, and that she is the one who makes the deal. I am curious, however, what the but will be. Also, we get some more Don and Gilda and they aren't foolish, they realise what Noramn is doing and refuse to cooperate. I really enjoy Ayshe. She immediatly stands out among the new characters, and I love how her story is told from two perspectives. From Norman's, who acts like he saved her, and from her own, wherein she explains the demon was literally her dad. She was happy, and suddenly he was dead. I like how it expands the world building and show that not all demons deserve to die, nor all humans deserve to live. It was very much a volume of building up, with the payoff hopefully being in the next one.
