Synopsis: A boy and his sister go to sea with their uncle who is a sea expert. While on their adventures the boy spots a mermaid. The uncle however wants to put the mermaid into a zoo.

Key Words: Sea, adventure, mermaids

School Year Group: Year 4

Review: Very simple plot, less scary than the other books but the "monster" in the book is not what you would expect.

This story kept me hooked, it was a REALLY quick read, I would say about an hour? And the writing actually wasn't too bad tbh.

Currently rereading my original Goosebumps collection

I'll start off by saying that the cover of this book is misleading. It's not Jaws-like plot about a killer shark. It's about a boy who discovers a mermaid while visiting his uncle, a marine biologist, and his struggle to save her. This is not primarily a horror story, and it feels quite different to the rest in the Goosebumps series. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it's still an interesting concept and I found myself constantly wondering what was going to happen next. A fairly decent entry in the series, but not one of my favourites.

This was one of the cuter Goosebumps books I've read.

It was bad. Boring plot, boring characters... One of the worst Goosebumps books.

Deep Trouble is definitely different than any other book in the series I have read so far. Instead of being shocking or scary it is more of a fantasy story. I enjoyed it but was really hoping to be bothered with a little more underwater terror as the cover indicates. 3.5 stars!
